Happy "Dog Day!" There was no question who wanted to get painted for today...my major dog lover Sam! He's let me paint SO many dogs on him over the years!

Celebrate Day 237: "Kiss and Make Up Day!"

Happy "kiss and make up" day!!

This one took me about 10 seconds...lip prints are sooo quick with a round brush! But hey, when you're posting a painting for every day, they can't all be masterpieces, haha!

New Time Lapse Video: "Tech Hand!"

While I am LOVING my daily "Celebrate" painting challenges, I'm definitely not getting in as many hand paintings lately. SO, I wanted to do another one that has been sitting in my sketchbook for quite a while now. I did this with my little airline travel paint set, as my main one is packed away right now for an upcoming gig!

The actual painting took about 30 minutes, with some kid interruptions...but here's a time lapse showing the whole thing in less than 2 minutes! Hope you enjoy!!

Wet Paint Magazine - Fall Issue Now Available!

Okay, I know I'm a tad late in blogging about this, but the latest issue of Wet Paint Magazine is now available worldwide!

What's in this issue?

Our 2nd issue of Wet Paint is full of advice for winning competitions from FABIC 2017 champion Sabine Vogel! See photos of her winning design as it moved through her design process, from her original sketch to test run paintings to the finished product!

We also bring encouragement for the future of our profession in an article on kids who paint. Hear from professional artist Morgan Vemu, and her daughter Achala, creator of the "Lil' Painty Peeps" Facebook group, as well as Marcela Murad, creator of the kids' tract at FABAIC!

In the latest installment of our “moonlighting” series, you will get a peek into the life of this issue's cover girl Tamina Muhammad and the wonderful work she does spreading the love of art to kids and the elderly!

Looking to really up your game with both knowledge and skills? Check out our feature on Olga Murasev’s new online International Face Painting School! In this feature we interview Olga to find out how the idea for the school was born, the work she put into creating it, and how the program works. We've even interviewed students currently enrolled in the school to get their take on it! I've been checking out her school myself lately and hope to write my own personal review of this AWESOME learning resource here soon!

Don't forget to check out our face and body art galleries, as well as our "Kid Artist Spotlight" on Thays Diaz! To top it all off, we've also given you some fun inspiration for cute, non-gory Halloween designs, and an awesome new step by step snake design!

Celebrate Day 232: "World Mosquito Day!"

Happy world mosquito day! Okay, this doesn't sound like a happy day. I hate mosquitoes! I live in Minnesota and they are often described as the state bird.  When I was a kid my bites used to swell up to the diameter of a baseball...NOT fun!  So, while I might paint you, mosquito, I do NOT celebrate you! Haha!

Celebrate Day 231: "World Honeybee Day!"

It's world honeybee day! Awesome...I am also a beekeeper so I love these guys! Here's a little texture I had fun creating with one of my HAS stencils, which has the comb shape.  I filled them in with some capped and uncapped honey, and added a few bees!

Celebrate Day 219: "Lighthouse Day!"

Happy lighthouse day! Today I decided to paint Split Rock Lighthouse, which sits perched up on the bluffs along lake Superior in my own home state of Minnesota! I've been there many times, and everyone's favorite sunset cake was named after that lake as well, "Superior Sunset!" ;-)

Celebrate Day 214: "Ice cream sandwich day!"

Happy ice cream sandwich day!  Last year (I think) I painted a regular rectangular ice cream sandwich, so for today I thought I'd do an ice cream cookie sandwich! :-)

Celebrate Day 213: "World Wide Web day!"

Happy world wide web day! For today's painting I played around with the idea of a high-tech spider building a web of circuits! The circuit board pattern was done using some Paradise brilliant silver, applied with a fingertip dauber, using the BAM 1220 stencil!  The glowing eyes are done with Liquid Bling in fire truck red.
